Capture One - Importing Images

So as I mentioned in an earlier post, I've decided to give Capture One a try and with that comes the first hurdle, importing images.

What I've decided to do or rather what I'd like to do and hope that I've managed to make work, is to use the same RAW images as source files and just keep the edits in the Capture One catalogue. This should let me use the same RAW files in both LR and C1 during this trial period and will also mean that I'm not copying the images (thus duplicating them) into C1's catalogue. I think the terminology for what I'm doing is called a reference library.

Anyways, I went to the import dialogue in C1, so that things didn't get too overwhelming from the start, I choose to import images just for this year (although in hindsight I probably should have chose just for the month).

I set the destination to current location, i.e. leave the files where they are (and hopefully) and don't do anything else to them. If you select any other option here, you have to specify a destination folder and C1 will tell you how much disk space you have, the implication being that the images will be copied there, which seems redundant for what I want.

Once that was done, I hit import all...

The next dialogue that popped up was the following; which made me a little nervous as I know I have more than 85 images...

This was just my impatience though as after a little while, the dialogue updated and it currently looks like this....

So now I'm waiting to see what happens when this completes and if I made the right choice...
